Lefaivre is a village on the Ottawa River in the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet, the same township as Alfred, Plantagenet and Wendover. It has a village pace rather than a commuter-corridor feel: quiet streets, riverside lots, and easy drives to Alfred, L'Orignal and Hawkesbury.
Whether you want a village home, a lot near the water, or a property a little further out, Team Steven Levac works Lefaivre from our Hawkesbury office, in English and French. Buying on the river? Read our Ottawa River waterfront buyer's guide.

Lefaivre faces the Ottawa River. Water, views and shoreline access are often the first thing buyers ask about here. What to check before buying on the river.
Lefaivre shares a township with Alfred, Plantagenet and Wendover. Permits and municipal services are handled at the township level, and the whole township is within South Nation Conservation's jurisdiction.
Unlike Wendover, Lefaivre is not usually chosen as a base for Ottawa commuting. It is a quieter riverside village, a short drive from Alfred and L'Orignal.
Groceries, schools and the hospital are often in Hawkesbury or the neighbouring villages; Lefaivre is where you come home to.
You can buy on a village street or look for a larger lot, sometimes with a connection to the river. Each comes with different septic, well and permit questions.

In Lefaivre, inventory ranges from village homes to riverside lots and parcels a little further out. A waterfront buyer here has different questions, and sometimes different financing and insurance, than a commuter buying a bungalow in Wendover.

Because Lefaivre is in Alfred and Plantagenet, South Nation Conservation (SNC) regulates development along the shoreline. Building, grading, placing fill or adding a permanent dock in SNC's regulated area needs an SNC permit before the township building permit. SNC adopted updated Ottawa River floodplain and erosion maps for the township in 2023, after the 2017 and 2019 floods.
Many riverside homes here use a private septic system and well. SNC holds septic permits and records for the township, and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit tests private well water for bacteria at no charge. Ask about overland flood insurance early; it is usually an optional add-on that depends on the location.
Our Ottawa River waterfront buyer's guide covers flood zones, septic and wells, dock permits, 3-season versus 4-season cottages, insurance and a due-diligence checklist for Lefaivre, Chute-à-Blondeau, L'Orignal and Hawkesbury.
